• Notes: Charles opened the Blacksmith shop at Bungaree on the 20th of February 1933. He worked as a Blacksmith, Wheelwright and Farrier at Bungaree and Toora, also Dairy Farmer at Kernot and salesman for Rawleighs products, before retiring to Robertson's Beach near Port Albert, Victoria where he bred budgerigars for a hobby and regularly showed them throughout Victoria, winning many prizes. He was also called upon to judge at shows. He spent his last years with his brother-in-law, Arthur (Mick) Coffield.

George in his younger days was quite a renowned horsemn, having won the Victorian Rough-riders Championship on one occassion. He and his brother Robert were often bringing strings of wild horses out from the hills and breaking them in for selling.
George enlisted in the Australian Imperial Army on the 23rd of March, 1916 and trained at Ballarat before being shipped to England on the 16th of August, 1916 aboard the RMS Orantes to be stationed at the Bulford Camp. It was during this term in England that he met Marie Berridge who was working as a clerk and living at the YWCA in Amesbury and a child was born.
George married Marie on the 24th of December, 1917 in the Parish of Amesbury in the County of Wiltshire, England.
George was admitted to the Army hospital on the 28th of February, 1918 suffering with Mephritis and was returned to Australia on the 17th of May, 1918 and medically disharged on the 22nd of August, 1918. He applied for and was granted free passage to Australia for his wife and child.
As a returned serviceman he was granted a Soldier Settlement block of 40 acres at Lyndhurst. It is not sure what the conditions were at the time, but he and Marie were seperated and their child Stanley was put in several Foster homes before finally being made a Ward of the State and placed in the Salvation Army's Box Hill Boys Home on the 21st of December, 1925.
Stan was transferred to the State Research Farm in Rutherglen at the age of 14. It was while he was stationed at the Farm that he met Winifred whose father was also an employee there. Wyn had married Len Stanton, however they were divorced in July 1939 before their child was born
At the age of 18 when Stan's Wardship came to an end he went to Melbourne where he began as an apprentice boiler-maker welder to John's and Weygood.
George and Marie were seperated on the 29th of October, 1921.
It is believed that Marie may have returned to England.

George re-married Mary Corcoran at Brunswick on the 17th of May, 1923.
Stan met his half brothers Edward (George) and Athol for the first time on the 31st of May, 1991.

• Marriage Settlement: Whilst serving in the Australian Imperial Forces and stationed at Bulford camp in England, met Marie Berrage and on the 1-Jul-1917, their son Stanley was born. George and Marie were married on 24-Dec-1917 at Wiltshire (England). Marie was working as a Clerk and living at the YMCA in Amesbury at the time of their marriage.

George suffered from Nephritis and was returned to Australia and medically discharge on 22-Aug-1918. During this year he applied and was granted Assisted Passage for his wife and child. What happened between 1918 and 1921 is not clear, but George and Marie were seperated on 29-Oct-1921 and Stan went to live with Emma Klarke and her husband in Camberwell until 25-Jul-1923 when he was made a Ward of the State and sent to the Boys depot until 21-Dec-1925 when he was put into the care of the Box Hill Boys Home (Salvation Army).

George married Marie Louise Berridge, daughter of William Robert Berridge, on Dec 24, 1917 in Amesbury, England. The marriage ended in separation on Oct 29, 1921. Marie was born in 1894 in England.
